Texas Clean Rivers Program Funding to Regional Water Agencies

The Texas Clean Rivers Program (CRP) is a surface water quality monitoring, assessment, and public outreach program. The program provides the opportunity to identify and evaluate water quality issues within each Texas river basin at the local and regional level. By coordinating efforts with a variety of stakeholders, priorities are selected and solutions are outlined. The CRP is authorized by the Texas Clean Rivers Act, 30 TAC Subchapter A. The program is funded by fees assessed to water-use and wastewater permit holders.

Who is eligible for this funding opportunity? Fifteen regional water agencies (12 river authorities, one water district, one federal agency, one council of government) contract with the TCEQ for reimbursement of the actual costs of administering and implementing the Clean Rivers Program in each major river basin. The reimbursement is based on an equitable apportionment of the fees among basins.

What program is the contact for more information? The Watershed Management Team may be contacted by calling 512/239-4906, or you may visit the TCEQ Web site at www.tceq.state.tx.us/compliance/monitoring/crp/index.html.
