Texas Clean Rivers Program: Data and Map Resources

Data

Use of the data files provided below requires a certain knowledge of the file structures and protocols of the state’s surface water quality monitoring program.

If you wish to obtain surface water quality data on specific water bodies in report format, please call the TCEQ’s Data Clearinghouse at 512/239-DATA.

Documents linked from this page are in MS Word and WordPerfect formats and in Portable Document Format (PDF). (Help with PDF.) (Help with Downloading Files.)

  • Coordinated Monitoring Schedule
This link will take you to an interactive web page detailing all surface water quality monitoring being conducted by the TCEQ or by Clean Rivers Program partner agencies under a TCEQ-approved Quality Assurance Project Plan.

  • Monitoring Stations
  • List and text description of all TCEQ-approved surface water quality monitoring stations in Texas, sorted by station identification number.

  • Monitoring Parameter Descriptions
Each water quality constituent is assigned a unique parameter code (STORET) for ease and consistency in managing the data. This search tool allows the user to find parameter codes by typing in a description of the water quality constituent (e.g., dissolved oxygen) or by entering a known parameter code to find the official text description of the water quality constituent.

  • Texas Surface Water Quality Data
The TCEQ database of quality-assured surface water quality monitoring data. This data can be downloaded as a pipe-delimited ASCII text file. There are a number of codes throughout the tables which require additional information to decipher.

The codes used for monitoring stations and parameters may be found in the “Monitoring Stations” table and in the “Monitoring Parameter Descriptions” table.

Each of the CRP partner agencies maintains a Web site that contains tables of water quality data for the river and coastal basins for which they are responsible.
