Tarrant Regional Water District

2024 TEEA Winner - Water Conservation

Tarrant Regional Water District is a wholesale water provider. Their Learn and Grow Program is a water conservation education and outreach program serving communities within Tarrant County. Initiated in 2016, the program includes an agreement between TRWD and a non-profit organization to administer presentations and workshops and attend events on behalf of TRWD. The purpose is to educate the public on the importance of water conservation, sustainable landscaping techniques, and TRWD’s role as a regional, raw water supplier.

After seven years of operation, the Learn and Grow Program has supported over 900 classes, hands-on workshops, and community events. In the first three quarters of 2023 alone, they provided 84 classes, 16 workshops, and supported 28 events. Through these activities, they have provided participants with a combined 960 rain barrels, about 2,300 native Texas plants, and more than 60,000 water-saving giveaways and educational brochures.
