1. Equipment, machines, devices, contrivances built or installed to be used at a domestic residence for domestic use.

2. Dual-chambered incinerators with a burner in the secondary chamber that maintains a temperature of 1200F or higher and with a burning capacity of less than 1000 pounds per hour for type 0, type I and type II waste only and which meet the following conditions. Types of waste are defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Field Operations and Enforcement Manual for Air Pollution Control, Volume II, APTD-1101.

  1. Operating instructions must be posted at the incinerator.
  2. Fuel shall be sweet natural gas or No. 2 fuel oil with less than 0.5% sulfur by weight.

3. Combustion units designed for comfort heating purposes employing only natural gas as a fuel.

4. Comfort air conditioning systems or comfort ventilating systems which are not used to remove air contaminants generated by or released from specific units of equipment.

5. Electric motors, electric generators, air compressors and integral engine-generator sets used for portable, emergency and/or standby electric power services.

6. Gas or liquid fuel fired stationary internal combustion engines or gas turbines provided that all existing and proposed engines and turbines meet the following:

  1. The total emissions of non-methane, non-ethane hydrocarbons are no more than 25 tons per year total from such engines or gas turbines on the property.
  2. The total emissions of NOx (NO plus NO2) are no more than 250 tons per year total from all such engines or gas turbines on the property.
  3. The total emissions of CO are not more than the total actual emission of NOx (NO plus NO2) in tons per year from all such engines or gas turbines on the property.
  4. The total emissions of sulfur dioxide are no more than 25 tons per year total from all such engines or gas turbines on the property.
  5. All engine and turbine exhaust is released to the atmosphere at a height at least twice the height of surrounding obstructions to wind flow, except as provided in Part 6 below. Buildings, open sides roof structures and covers are considered as obstructions.
  6. Part 5 above does not apply if all engine and turbine exhaust stacks are located at least 800 feet from the nearest property line. If any exhaust stack (existing or proposed), which does not meet the "double stack height" requirements of Part 5 above, is located less than 800 feet from the nearest property line, then this exemption may still apply, provided the total emission of NOx (NO plus NO2) in tons per year from all such engines or gas turbines on the property is limited to the following calculated value: Q = 0.3125D

    Where:
Q = Total allowable emissions (tons/yr) of NOx (NO plus NO2) from all such engines or gas turbines on the property.
D = Shortest distance in feet from any existing or proposed stack not meeting the requirements of Part 5 above to the nearest property line.

  7. The appropriate regional supervisor shall be notified prior to start of construction.
