The Central Registry is a computer application that allows us at
the TCEQ to use a single, centralized area to record common
information, such as the company names, addresses, and telephone
numbers of those we regulate.
The Central Registry does NOT take the place of program area
databases, known as "legacy systems," although over several years
these databases will change to work in conjunction with the
registry.
Central Registry staff checks the quality of data coming into
the registry. The Central Registry is under the Office of
Permitting and Registration.
By establishing the Central Registry, we as an agency are laying
a foundation that will make it possible to develop more
comprehensive information about environmental issues.
