Stakeholder Group on Rulemaking to Implement SB 1604 and HB 3838

This stakeholder group was created to provide input on appropriate rule standards to implement Senate Bill 1604 Exit TCEQ and House Bill 3838 Exit TCEQ, 80th Legislature, “Relating to responsibilities of certain state agencies concerning radioactive substances; imposing fees and surcharges; providing administrative and civil penalties.” This legislation transfers regulatory authority to the TCEQ for commercial radioactive waste processing, source material recovery (uranium mining), and by-product material disposal.

Current Status

The public comment period ended on October 6, 2008. The executive director is in the process of responding to comments.
