The TCEQ Waste Rule Interpretation Team existed from 1999-2003
to address questions regarding state and federal waste rules. All
interpretations made by the Waste Rule Interpretation Team were
documented in rule interpretation memos (RIMs).
Who developed RIMs?
The Waste Rule Interpretation Team consisted of representatives
from the Environmental Law; Litigation; Policy and Regulations;
Field Operations; Enforcement; Registration, Review &
Reporting; Remediation; and Waste Permits divisions of the
TCEQ.
Why were RIMs issued?
The RIMs documented agreements among various parts of the TCEQ
regarding the interpretation of certain rules. The process helped
ensure consistency in permitting, enforcement, and other areas
affected by these rules.
