The El Paso Plating Works site is located at 2422 Wyoming Avenue within the city limits, and approximately 1.9 miles northeast of downtown El Paso, El Paso County. On March 22, 1995, facing formal enforcement of cleanup orders from the TNRCC, an officer of EPPW said the company would voluntarily cease operations, but would not abandon the facility. Less than a month later, the facility was abandoned. On February 11, 1998, TNRCC abandoned enforcement action against the defunct EPPW corporation and referred the site to state and federal cleanup programs for remediation.
